Wellslip is three products for health and HSA receipts. Wellslip Desktop, for Mac and Windows, and Wellslip Mobile, for iPhone, are free. They keep receipts on the device, with no account. Wellslip Sync is an optional paid add-on that syncs them, end-to-end encrypted.
Free for Mac and Windows.
Open source, formerly Stowe.
Wellslip Desktop and Wellslip Mobile keep health and HSA records on your devices. Neither one needs an account, and neither one needs Sync. This site does not ask you to create an account. Sync is a separate choice.
vault.wellslip.comThe desktop app, formerly Stowe.
A desktop app for the medical expenses you paid, and the receipts that go with them. The files stay on that computer.
The database is a SQLite file, with your receipt files beside it. Copy the folder to back it up. Delete it to remove it.
The packaged app listens on your computer only (127.0.0.1). It does not sign you in, and it does not upload the receipts you save.
Wellslip Desktop is that project, under the MIT license. Releases and source live in the Stowe repository. The app you download may still say Stowe.
~/Library/Application Support/Stowe/
Copy this folder to back it up. Delete it to remove the database and the receipt files.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Stowe\. An older Windows folder at %APPDATA%\Stowe\ is moved there automatically.Receipts that stay on the iPhone.
A free iPhone app that stores receipts locally on the phone. Photograph a receipt, or import an image or PDF. Check the date, the provider or store, the amount, and who it was for, then mark it To claim, Claimed, or Reimbursed.
Wellslip Mobile is built to keep receipts in the app’s own storage on the iPhone. They are not uploaded as part of the free app.
The free app does not need a Wellslip sign-in. It also does not need Wellslip Sync, which is a separate choice.
Wellslip Mobile is not on the App Store yet, so there is no listing to open. There will be no store link here until the app is actually available.
Encrypted sync, when you want it.
An optional paid add-on. It syncs receipts between the phone and the desktop app, and opens them in a web vault at vault.wellslip.com. Neither is available yet. This site does not list a price.
Wellslip Desktop and Wellslip Mobile stand on their own. The phone is meant to keep its own receipts usable if you never enable Sync, or if you turn it off later.
Receipt text and images are encrypted before upload. Sign-in is an email code. The Sync passphrase is separate, and it is not sent to the server.
The same encrypted records, in the browser, at vault.wellslip.com. That site is not up yet.
Web vault Coming soon What the server would still be able to see is described in the privacy draft. Sync is not a service you can open today.
Where a receipt lives, and what is not launched yet.
No. Wellslip Desktop and Wellslip Mobile each keep receipts on their own. Wellslip Sync is an optional add-on for sync and a web copy. You can ignore it.
On the computer running the app. On macOS the folder is ~/Library/Application Support/Stowe/. On Windows it is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Stowe\. An older Windows folder at %APPDATA%\Stowe\ is moved there automatically. Copy the folder to back it up. Delete the folder to remove the database and the receipt files.
The packaged app listens on localhost (127.0.0.1) only. It has no Wellslip account, and opening it does not upload your receipts. The Stowe project states that the packaged app does not include analytics or telemetry.
If you run it from source, setup can install language packages from the internet. That step is not your database. The database still stays on the computer.
Wellslip Mobile is designed to store them on the phone. It is not shipped, so there is no Wellslip Mobile service taking uploads. Syncing would be Wellslip Sync, which is separate and not available yet.
The account email, item identifiers, whether an item is a receipt, a claim, or a setting, ciphertext sizes and hashes, sync times and version numbers, device names, whether something was deleted, and the storage path of an encrypted image. Not the merchant, the amount, the date on the receipt, notes, or the image itself. Those sit inside the ciphertext. The passphrase is not sent to the server.
The privacy draft says this in full. Sync is not launched. That description is the design, not a service you can sign in to today.
A recovery code is the other way to unwrap the key. If both are gone, there is no reset. We would not be able to read the receipts for you. This matters only once Sync exists.
It is a paid add-on. This site does not list a price. Desktop and Mobile are free. Wellslip Desktop is also open source.
No. Wellslip helps you keep records. Whether an expense is a qualified medical expense is up to the IRS and your own advisor. IRS Publication 969 is the usual place to start. Wellslip is not your advisor.
Kay Software Works LLC.
Not tax advice. Wellslip helps you keep records. What counts as a qualified medical expense is up to the IRS and your accountant.
